Youth Orchestras

Gwinnett County is one of the few counties in Georgia that offers two honor orchestras. These groups perform some of the standard music literature played by professional symphonies and provide an opportunity for students to gain experience playing orchestral repertoire above and beyond what is offered in the local schools.

The Kendall Orchestra is made up of students in 6th through 9th grades. The Gwinnett County Youth Symphony, a string orchestra in the fall and a full orchestra in the spring, is open to students in 6th through 12th grades.

Auditions for the orchestras are held in late August for all string players and in January for wind and percussion players. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in their school orchestra program.
